100. No, it’s not the number of days remaining until the Rio Olympics, and not even until the Tokyo Olympics, which will see the return of baseball and softball into the Olympic family of sports. It is, though, these very two sports that the number has something to do with – in a 100 days, there will be all kinds of fun and merry-making in the Krč valley, the home of the Eagles – our club will be turning 35 on 3rd February 2016!

35 years, that is long enough to have gained a lot of experience, but not so long as to have lost the vigor of youth. The 35 years also represent a total of 96 championship titles in all categories, including the one that our cadet boys won this year. These numbers are definitely worthy of mention, and what is more, they are also worthy of celebration! And you bet that there is going to be a hell of a party at Eagles Park. Not in the cold month of February, a bit later – once the ballpark has seen some spring sunshine after the winter. We will tell you – past and present players and friends of the club – about the exact date in due time.

When in 1845, Alexander Cartwright compiled the first set of rules a game called baseball, no one in the Czech Lands had any idea that a ball could be pitched, hit and caught. As years went by, however, the sports find their way to Czechoslovakia – also thanks to Cubans who would come here to study and work.

Let’s cut to the chase and stop beating around the bush – at the end of the 1980 season, a group of players decided it was time to split from Tempo Prague. They found a safe haven in the sports organization of Sokol Krč (click here for more info on the Sokol organization). And on February 3rd 1981, a new club was born – our green-and-white club! A club that ranks among the most successful ball-clubs in the Czech Republic. It took some time for the club to find and build its own ballpark. “I discovered this place in 1984 when I was working on the construction of the Barrandov Bridge – one day I sort of wandered around looking for a place for a future ballpark…” said the current president of the club, Jan Bagin, one of the Founding Fathers, reminiscing about the origin of what became one of the best ballparks in Europe.

By the way, where today you have five beautiful diamonds used to be a wild dump side and wetlands. A large number of great ballplayers of both genders grew up playing in this ballpark, legendary Hall of Famers, some of whom we will introduce to you over the next few months in interesting interviews on a common theme – an everlasting love for baseball and softball. This series of interviews and articles will be joined together by an all-telling motto: MY HEART BEATS IN KRČ.

What are then some of the things you can look forward to finding out? Do you know when Krč won its first championship title? Who was the first player to sign a contract with an MLB organization? Do you know how the name and logo of the club developed over the years? Log on to and follow the history of the Eagles in a series of articles that will help you pass the time until the day of the celebration.

All right, then: #GoEagles35 !!!
